CRI Ireland aims to make company research usable across modern desktop and mobile devices and to support visitors using keyboards, screen readers, zoom and other assistive technologies.
Design approach
Pages use semantic headings, visible labels, sufficient spacing, responsive layouts and text-based navigation. Company listings are paginated rather than forcing a visitor to interact with an extremely long unstructured page. Forms use associated labels and avoid relying on placeholder text as the only instruction.
Keyboard and focus
Interactive controls should be reachable by keyboard and should expose a visible focus state. Menus, cookie controls, forms, pagination, accordions and buttons should not require a mouse-only interaction.
Responsive content
The directory is designed to reflow from multi-column desktop layouts to simpler mobile layouts. Tables and large statistical displays may use horizontal scrolling where collapsing the information would make it misleading or unreadable.
Images and text alternatives
Where an informative image is used, CRI should provide an appropriate text alternative. Decorative artwork should be hidden from assistive technology where it does not add information.
Reporting an accessibility problem
If a page, filter, form or company record is difficult to use with assistive technology, contact CRI and provide the page URL, device or browser and a description of the problem. Accessibility improvements are treated as an ongoing part of site maintenance.
