CRI Ireland wants directory pages to be accurate, readable and transparent about their source. If you spot a problem with a CRI page, use the Contact page and include enough information for the team to identify the record.
What CRI can correct
CRI can correct its own editorial descriptions, broken links, duplicated presentation, sector mappings, malformed location labels, page headings, FAQs and other site-generated content.
Official source data
If the value is present in the underlying official source dataset, CRI may need to wait for a refreshed source import or ask you to have the official record corrected with the responsible authority first.
What to include
For a company correction, provide the company name, CRO number, the field you believe is wrong, the corrected value and a source that supports the correction where available.
Urgent issues
Do not use CRI as an emergency or regulatory-reporting channel. Contact the appropriate authority directly if a matter requires an official or time-sensitive response.
Examples of reportable issues
Useful correction reports include a company page showing a malformed placeholder address, an incorrect CRI-generated sector label, a broken breadcrumb, a duplicated company profile, an editorial summary that overstates the source data, a dead external link or a guide that points to an outdated programme name. Clear reports make it much easier to investigate and fix the right layer.
What a correction does not do
A CRI correction does not itself alter the official Companies Registration Office record. If the underlying source says a company has a particular name, status or registered office, CRI may need to wait for the source to change or for a newer import before the public directory reflects a different value.
Correction priority
Issues that expose malformed data, create misleading company identities, affect privacy, break important navigation or materially misstate CRI’s independent status should be treated as higher priority than cosmetic preferences. Routine formatting improvements and classification suggestions can be reviewed as part of normal maintenance.
Evidence
When possible, include a link to the relevant official record, filing, company website or other reliable source that supports the proposed correction. Do not send private identity documents or confidential commercial information unless CRI specifically requests them through an appropriate secure process.
After a correction
Once CRI has corrected its own presentation, cached pages or search indexes may take a short time to refresh. Search engines also control their own recrawl schedules. A fixed CRI page therefore may not immediately change in a third-party search result.
Ongoing updates
Some apparent errors resolve automatically when a new source dataset is imported. The directory is built to refresh existing company numbers rather than accumulate multiple conflicting copies of the same record.
